Snapdragon 821 SoC, 6GB RAM and 256GB of internal storage
Xiaomi is gearing up to launch an upgrade to its savagely popular Mi 5 that released earlier this year. It is allegedly named the Mi 5s.The specifications of the upgraded Mi 5 has popped on the AnTuTu benchmarking site and from the looks of it, this is going to be one killer smartphone.
According to the benchmarking site, the Mi 5s will run on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow and will come powered by the new Snapdragon 821 clocked at 2.4GHz, the same one rumored to be on the Google branded Pixel phones coming out next month. Along with this, the Mi 5s will have a whopping 6GB of RAM paired with 256GB of internal storage.
The smartphone will feature a 5.15-inch full HD screen with 1920x1080 resolution and a force touch feature, similar to that of Apple's 3D Touch found in the iPhone 6S and iPhone 7.As for the camera, the Mi 5s will feature a 16-megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture along with 4-axis optical image stabilization. No word on the front camera yet though.
The site also shows the battery to be a huge 3490mAh along with Qualcomm's Fast Charge 3.0 support. The smartphone will ship with USB Type-C port along with NFC.To put this one into comparison with the earlier Mi 5, the processor, the RAM and the internal storage are a massive improvement.
The Mi 5 comes powered by Snapdragon 820 SoC along with 4GB of RAM. The maximum storage offered by the Mi 5 is just 64GB. Compared to that, the Mi 5s will ship with the Snapdragon 821 processor, 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The camera too is going to receive a nifty upgrade with the aperture now down to f/1.9 from f/2.0.
With leaks showing up, it won't be long before Xiaomi releases the Mi 5 successor. While the Mi 5 comes with a price tag of Rs 22,999, it remains to be how high the Mi 5s will be priced considering the upgrade hardware in it.
