After a 'global' recall when this new smartphone had caught fire, it appears that even 1 million 'replacement' units too cannot be trusted. It has been reported recently where a replacement unit by Samsung which they claimed to be safe has got into ashes in United States when a user in a flight complained.
Following this, Samsung on Tuesday (11th Oct'16) said that it will discontinue the sales of its new flagship device. “Taking our customer’s safety as our highest priority, we have decided to halt sales and production of the Galaxy Note 7,” the company said.
In financial terms, this entire scenario has wiped off around $17 billion of market value. Samsung has also asked telecom carriers and other retailers to stop the sales.
