The saga of exploding Galaxy Note 7 continues. and Samsung is doing everything it can to contain the nightmare.

There have over 70 reports of the battery of the Galaxy Note 7 exploding while charging including one that turned a jeep into ashes and another that sparked a fire in a garage and yet another that scalded a six-year old boy who was using the phone. Airlines across the world are also banning passengers from using the phone during flights.

Samsung has gone overboard trying to fix the issue. The company has made an official statement recalling all Note 7 phones and even marking the safe ones with a 'S' sign.
But here's the thing. Not everyone is really aware of the issue and not everyone would want to return their phone for a replacement for reasons known only to themselves.
So, Samsung being the good Samaritan has made an attempt to fix even those phones that won't be returned.

The fix? Reduce the battery life and cap it at 60 per cent. The Korean smartphone giant will be issuing a software update that will limit the charging to 60 per cent to prevent the phones from overheating.
The update was announced with a full page advert on the Seoul Shinmun, a newspaper in South Korea.

The update is only pushing out to users in South Korea so far. But since its aimed at people who refuse to participate in the soft recalls and replacement programs, it is likely to push out to the rest of the world as well.
